Sergey Miroshnichenko, film director and documentary film maker, an honoured art worker of the Russian Federation, a member of the Russian Academy of television, holder of the state prize of Russia, Secretary of the Russian Filmmakers’ Union, a professor of VGIK (The Russian State Institute of Cinematography), he leads workshops on directing documentary films, and the head of the studio “Ostrov” (“Island”).

Sergey Miroshnichenko, film director and documentary film maker, an honoured art worker of the Russian Federation, a member of the Russian Academy of television, holder of the state prize of Russia, Secretary of the Russian Filmmakers’ Union, a professor of VGIK (The Russian State Institute of Cinematography), he leads workshops on directing documentary films, and the head of the studio “Ostrov” (“Island”).

He is the author of 18 films, holder of two prizes “Nika”, the award “Tefi”, grand prize of the American television academy “Emmi”. Among the works of the classical contemporary documentary films, there are “Georgy Zhzhenov. Russian Cross”, “Solzhenicyn. Life is not on a lie”, “Unknown Putin. Peace and war”, ‘Murder of the emperor. Versions “, “Born in the USSR”, “Valery Georgiev. Twilight of the gods.” In his films the documentalist Sergey Miroshnichenko tells about great Russian characters. Trilogy “Russian Cross” is dedicated to the fate of the theater and cinema actor, national actor of the USSR Georgy Zhzhenov. In film “Solzhenicyn. Life is not on a lie” the author uses the records of the talk with the great writer. The documentary “The river of life” – is about the Irkutsk writer Valentin Rasputin.

Sergey Miroshnichenko was born in Chelyabinsk in 1955. After school he worked at television as an assistant, then he finished the shop of A. Kochetkov at VGIK. After study he worked at Sverdlovskaya film studio, then at the studio “TRITE”, now he manages the studio “Ostrov”. He is a participant of the international documentary film project BBC “7 up”, managed by the famous British film director Michael Apted. In frames of this project Sergey Miroshnichenko shot the film series “Born in the USSR”: “7-year-old”, “14-year-old”, “21 years old” and now he is shooting the episode “28 years old”.
